Raptor Ramble (Walk on the
Wild Side):
After
an initial lesson in the handling and flying one of our school hawk,
join us on a walk in this beautiful Mountainous region of Mid Wales,
where you will be in the company of our cast of amicable
Harris Hawks. As we walk through the hills we will provide you with the
opportunity to handle and fly a hawk for yourself, you will experience
being an Austringer, a person who flys hawks.
This is without doubt the closest you will get to a bird
demonstrating
natural behavior, amidst stunning panoramic views of the Cambrian
Mountains and the Dyfi Valley.
Harris hawks are social birds and can be flown together in a cast, this
means you will be flying more than one hawk, with this experience.
With a quick descending glide down from a high perch or soaring
position, or a horizontal flight from the perch, this makes the Harris
Hawk the most versatile, adaptable and most popular hawk in modern day
falconry. These hawks perform in all sorts of countryside and weather.
they are quick to learn, quite intelligent and improve with age.
