Half-day Encounter:
The most popular experience by far - a memory
that lasts a lifetime! An impressive insight into the world of
Birds of Prey - come and fly them for yourself....
 Through this enjoyable encounter, we at
Raptor
Experience Wales will provide you, on a one to one basis, a friendly
and relaxed opportunity under safe supervision, consisting of the most
unusual and enjoyable combination of meeting, handling and flying our
spectacular Hawks, Falcons, Eagle, Vultures and Owls, starting from the
smallest such as our European kestrel, and working our way up to the
largest such as our Indian Tawny Eagle. You will discover to your
delight the individual
personalities of each bird, and learn about their natural history and
behaviour in the wild, and specialized techniques in training raptors
in captivity so that they display natural foraging strategies as close
to their wild counterparts. The experience is highly educational and
unique photographic opportunities exist throughout.
We will provide you with a high flying demonstration from our Falcons,
Eagle and Vultures, followed up with a short lesson on The History of
Falconry, training techniques and equipment used. We will then proceed
to our training ground, for an initial lesson in flying our school
Hawks in a cast (more than one flying at a time).
We then provide you with the opportunity to participate in one of our
Hawking trips/raptor rambles, where after a leisurely stroll up to our
high ground, you will experience the remarkable teamwork of Austringer
and bird producing some of the finest flights with our cast of amicable
Harris Hawks, over the Dylife Mountain range.
This is without doubt the closest you will get to a bird of prey
demonstrating natural behavior and occasionally flying to your glove
for a reward and
in addition the views are stunning.
 At the end of the Encounter we will award
you with a certificate for participation in handling (L) and flying a
variety of raptors.
In addition to the birds we will be only to pleased to point out some
of the interesting Flora and Fauna in this beautiful part of Mid Wales,
including our local population of Red Kites soaring on the summer
thermals or flying in to their communal winter roost in nearby trees.

Photography Days
On selected dates throughout the summer of 2009, we will be offering
Raptor and Wildlife Photography Days aimed primarily at beginners. On
hand throughout the day will be Professional Wildlife Photographer,
Jonathon Plant an expert in this field for the last twenty years. He
work has been published in various wildlife magazines, the latest being
a front cover of Country Life Magazine. He will be able to give you
advice on all aspects of wildlife photography. Our location provides
the perfect environment for an abundance of fauna and flora. We
regularly see various raptors near our base including Red Kite,
Peregrine Falcon, Goshawk and Buzzard. On the day you will have the
opportunity to photograph various birds of prey including an Indian
Tawny Eagle as well as a Raccoon.
